    21-year-old Fremont County resident facing one count burglary

    All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Ian Whiting, 21, of Fremont County, is facing one count burglary.

    The charges are related to an event that is alleged to have taken place in Fremont County on or about April 24th, 2018. Whiting waived his preliminary hearing on August 8th, 2019. The case is being transferred to District Court.

    Court documents describe a reported break-in at a Lander residence on April 24th, 2018. The responding officer observed a broken window and open backdoor to the residence upon arrival. Items reported missing by the resident include: antique spittoon filled with change and a Marlin .22 rifle. Whiting allegedly admitted to taking a few quarters out of the spittoon and a poster during the burglary.

    The burglary allegedly involves multiple suspects. County 10 has not received any additional information about the other suspects.

    Whiting is charged with:

    • One count burglary (felony) has a maximum penalty of imprisonment for not more than 10 years, a fine of not more than $10,000 or both.
