21 names added to the Fremont County Courthouse Veteran monument on Memorial Day 2024

(Lander, WY) – 21 Veteran names were added to the memorial statue located at the Fremont County Courthouse, in a ceremony held on May 27, Memorial Day 2024.

Keith Trouwborst, Chairman of the Monuments Committee, presented/dedicated the plaque to a crowd of Veterans and their family members.

Trouwborst also gave some history about the memorial, which he shared was dedicated back in 2011, but ultimately deteriorated to the point where the American Legion stepped in to form the Monuments Committee, which oversees statue repairs and dedications such as these.

“The primary project for this memorial is to continue to recognize Fremont County residents who served honorably in the military service,” Trouwborst shared with the crowd. “As names are gathered for both living Veterans and those who have passed on, we will continue to add plaques to these memorial walls with their names and periods of service.”

Trouwborst then read the names of the 21 Veterans who were honored and added to the memorial, which included (note, not every Veteran or Veteran family member stand-in was able to attend the ceremony):

    • William A. Collister
    • Herbert Davis
    • Morgan Doyle

    • Ronald L. Phillips
    • Calvin Roberts Polen
    • Anthony Prate
