2024 Memorial Day ceremonies happening countywide

(Fremont County, WY) – There are a number of ceremonies scheduled across the 10 for Memorial Day 2024 (next Monday, May 27), where folks can honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

The first ceremony kicks off in Hudson at 9:00 AM in the Hudson Cemetery, followed by the memorial in Dubois at 10:00 AM in the Dubois Cemetery.

Riverton’s ceremony also begins at 10:00 AM, at Mountain View Cemetery. Folks will be out on Saturday morning to help raise the flags, and anyone who wants to volunteer to help bundle flags for the ceremonies can meet at the Veterans Hall on East Main Street, on Friday at 8:00 PM.

In Lander, the ‘Avenue of Flags’ flag raising on Main Street will take place on Friday, May 24, thanks to local scouts and little leaguers with help from their parents.

Then on Memorial Day, a ceremony will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery at 11:00 AM courtesy of the American Legion and VFW, where Don Stough, the first Lander casualty of WWI, will be honored.

Then at 2:00 PM, a new plaque will be displayed at the Veterans Memorial located at the County Courthouse, which honors 21 Veterans from Fremont County.

The Lander VFW, located at 11 Tweed Lane, will also be providing brunch from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

(American Legion representative Keith Trouwborst also wants to remind folks that flags should be set half-mast on Memorial Day morning before sunrise, then raised back to full-mast at noon.)

It should also be noted that WRTA services will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

County 10 was also recently made aware of Memorial Day Feast put on by the Shoshone Fair Board. All the information on that event is in the flyer below.

If there are any other Memorial Day events in Fremont County that we missed, please email [email protected] to tell us the time and location, and we will add it to this post.
