    To our softball families,

It is with heavy hearts that our Board of Directors for the Riverton Girl’s Fastpitch Softball have decided to cancel the spring season of softball. We have been meeting and talking over the past several months trying to figure out the best possible solution to be able to have a recreational league this year, unfortunately none of those plans could come to fruition. As the cases of Covid-19 continue to rise in our county, particularly in Riverton, and with the new guidelines out for our state/county, we just feel like there is no possible way to have a full functioning recreational league this summer. Our biggest concern is the safety of our girls and coaches and felt there was no way to guarantee the safety of them this season.

However at this point in time we are still planning on continuing with our travel teams, we are hoping to have two of them, one being 14/16U and the other being a 10/12U. The travel teams will be limited to 13 players on each team and 2 coaches so we will still be in the health guidelines outlined by the state. We will also be abiding by the social distancing of 6 foot and wearing masks while practicing. No parents will be allowed to sit within the gates during practices, you are free to watch from your car on the perimeter. At this point the state of Wyoming softball program is continuing on with their plans as usual, they will cancel tournaments if need be within two weeks. There is no guarantee we will have any tournaments this summer or even a state tournament, they are making those decisions daily. For the travel teams to be able to practice we will still need to be cleared by our Fremont County Public Health Officer and the State Softball Commissioner, so that is also a deciding factor in all this. We will have many hoops to jump through, and it will not be softball as usual, but we are trying our best to salvage as much softball playing time as we can. We will leave travel team sign ups open until next Monday, May 18th, so if your daughter is interested in travel team please sign her up before that final registration day.

If you would like to receive a refund for this season please email [email protected] and let us know the name of your daughter and an address to send your refund before May 31. We are also offering to credit your registration to our next softball season. Please let us know if you want a refund or credit towards next season, if we do not hear from you by May 31, we will credit you for next season.

Our hearts truly ache for our girls and not being able to have a softball season this year, many of us on the board have girls that play in the league, so we truly understand as parents what you are feeling. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, we would be happy to help. Thank you for understanding what a difficult decision this was for us as a board. We look forward to seeing you on the fields next year under the bright lights and hearing the crack of the bat once again. Stay safe and healthy!
