The 2020 Election season officially begins Thursday, May 14th, 2020, as this is the first day to file for office, according to a press release from Fremont County Clerk Julie Freese.

Those considering running for a US Senate or House seat, or State Senate or Representative seat, you will file with the Secretary of State in Cheyenne. Please check their website by clicking here.

If you are filing for Republican or Democratic Precinct Committee People or County Commissioner in District 2 or 5 you will file with the Fremont County Clerk Election Office.

If you want to file for a Municipal seat, you will file with the appropriate Town or City Clerk.

For Republican or Democratic Precinct Committee People or County Commissioner filings, the County Courthouse will NOT be open until May 18th, 2020, so you may wait until we are open, or by going to the Secretary of State’s website and download the form to fill out and send it with your fee to us here at the courthouse. You may also file by emailing in your application and paying the fee with a credit card (there is a $2 convenience fee added). Note: Precinct committee people filings are no fee.

Filing for these offices will end on May 29th, 2020, at the closing time of each office where you would file. Please contact the Election Office if you have questions at 307-332-1088 or 1089.

The Fremont County Election Office also announced the move to Voter Centers for the 2020 Election. You can read more about that in our previous post.
