All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Colson McDowell, 20, of Fremont County, is facing one count aggravated burglary and one count property destruction and defacement. McDowell waived his preliminary hearing on September 6th, 2019. The case is being transferred to District Court for arraignment.
The charges are related to a break-in reported on April 24th, 2018 at a Lander residence. This is the same break-in involving Ian Whiting from our previous post. The responding officer observed a broken window and open backdoor to the residence upon arrival. Items reported missing by the resident include: antique spittoon filled with change and a Marlin .22 rifle. Court documents state McDowell allegedly broke the window to gain access and removed the rifle from the residence.

Aggravated burglary is a felony with a maximum penalty of imprisonment for no less than 5 years and no more than 25 years, a fine of no more than $50,000 or both.
Property destruction and defacement is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of imprisonment for no more than 6 months, a fine of no more than $750 or both.
