18-year-old Wyoming resident dies in Monday morning rollover

(Goshen County, WY) – A one-vehicle rollover on US-85, reported at 4:14 AM on Saturday, September 18th, resulted in one fatality, according to a release from Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP).

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 18-year-old Upton, WY, resident Caleb M. Brenner.

The release states that a vehicle was headed north of Lingle, WY, on US-85, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve to the left and exited the roadway’s east side.

The driver then steered the truck to the left, and the vehicle began to overturn.

The WHP preliminary report goes on to state the vehicle then vaulted over a private driveway access, and started an end-over-end roll when it landed, causing large gouge marks in the barrow pit.

During this end-over-end roll, Brenner was ejected from the vehicle, and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

Driver fatigue is being investigated as a potential contributing factor, and the release states Brenner was not wearing a seatbelt.

This is the 84th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 95 in 2020, 117 in 2019, and 81 in 2018 to date.
