    18-year-old Texas girl dies in September 5 rollover

    (Albany County, WY) – A one vehicle rollover occured on the night of September 5th, on Sand Creek Road outside of Laramie, that resulted in one fatality and one injury, according to a Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) preliminary report.

    The fatally injured passenger has been identified as 18-year-old Texas resident Haleigh Heath.

    The report states that a pickup was traveling southwest on Sand Creek Road, a mud/dirt/gravel road, at a high rate of speed.

    The pickup failed to negotiate a slight right curve in the roadway, and the vehicle exited the roadway to the south where it rolled several times.

    Both occupants were not restrained, and the male was completely ejected from the vehicle.

    The female occupant was partially ejected and died on the scene from her injuries.

    The male occupant was later flown to the Medical Center of the Rockies where he was hospitalized.

    Speed is being looked into as a possible contributing factor and seatbelts were not in use, according to the report.

    This is the 79th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021, compared to 87 in 2020, 110 in 2019, and 75 in 2018 to date.
