18 veterans filled their tags in Lysite last weekend

(Lysite, WY) – The Lysite community hosted 18 disabled veterans last weekend for their annual Hunting With Heroes (HWH) event.

They arrived on Friday, September 17th, from all across the U.S. spanning from Florida to Washington. Saturday was spent hunting and the evening with the community dinner at the Lysite Fire Hall.

“They were all successful,” shared Larry Allen, HWH Lysite Chapter member, about their hunts. “It was a good event.”

Each veteran was given a quilt through our local Quilts of Valor Chapter.

Larry also shared his appreciation for the community stepping up and helping make this happen.

“We couldn’t do it without the landowners and all of the volunteers. Everyone looks forward to it and does everything they can to make it happen.”

He also thanked Rex Trumbull of Dinklage Feed Yard, Inc. and Craig Latrelle of Tyson Meats who donate the meat every year for the community dinner.

Lysite has annually participated in HWH Wyoming since it was founded in 2013.

“It’s just our way of showing the veterans we appreciate what they’ve sacrificed and have done for our country,” Larry said. “It’s a small way to say ‘thank you.'”
