If you haven’t seen ‘Gone in 60 Seconds,’ you’re probably not a car nut. In the movie, Eleanor is the name of a breath-taking modified 1971 Shelby GT500. She’s Nicholas Cage’s white whale, so to speak. And here we a newer, and local, Eleanor who just so happens to be white.
Meet David Snyder’s 2008 Shelby GT500 convertible. “I have had a dream of owning a Shelby Mustang since I was 14 years old,” he says.
He was finally able to make his dream come true last October. Thanks to snow, he’s had to keep it tucked away, but it’s seeing daylight again now. The GT500 has Shelby’s stock 5.4L V8 putting out 500 horsepower with a 6 speed manual. According to MotorTrend, it can hit 60 in 4.3 seconds. And despite being 9 years old, it only at 16,000 miles.
“The power and whine of the supercharger, and 6 speed transmission make it a complete blast to drive!! It’s a SHELBY!!” David said.
To top everything off, he gets to share the car with his wife and granddaughter who both love the drop top.
