(Shoshoni, WY) – 44 cars participated in the 1st annual Life in the Fast Lane Speed Trials in Shoshoni on Sunday, for a combined total of 117 eighth-mile runs.
Seven drivers made it over 100 mph in that short distance – their cars ranged from a 1939 Dodge to a 2018 Tesla.
An estimated 200 spectators lined West 7th Street in front of the mushroom farm to watch this inaugural event.

A total of 35 drivers received speed certificates in the following categories: 60 mph, 80 mph and 100 mph. Results are shared below:
The “People’s Choice” award went to Bobby Cornell for his 1958 Chevrolet.
Drivers and vehicles traveled from a variety of Wyoming towns to participate on Sunday including Riverton, Shoshoni, Lander, Casper, Mills, and Crowheart. A few others came from out-of-state including Lyons, Colorado, Idaho Falls, Idaho and the furthest away was from Everett, Washington.
Organizer Joel Highsmith shared this was a great first event, and gave a special thanks to Steve Harless, Mike Forget, and Phyllis and John Brewbaker.
“Without their help, it would not have been as good of a time as it turned out to be,” he said. “We are already planning for next year.”
County 10 was not able to stay for the entire event, however, enjoy the photos below of a few of the participants.
