    1 dead after vehicle rollover near Sundance, WY

    (Sundance, WY) – According to a release issued by the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), on August 1st, 5:36 AM, WHP troopers were notified of a one-vehicle rollover occurring around milepost 9 on WY-116 south of Sundance, Wyoming. 

    The crash resulted in 1 fatality.

    The report states that a truck was headed north on Wyoming 116, when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane around milepost 9, before exiting the left side of the road and overturning.

    The driver of the truck has been identified as 41-year-old Upton, Wyoming resident Shon D. Engel. 

    Engel was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash, with driver fatigue being investigated as a potential contributing factor.

    There were no other fatalities or injuries reported.

    This is the 58th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 64 in 2020, 96 in 2019, and 61 in 2018 to date.
