WYDOT Reopens WYO 132 in Johnstown Valley and US 26 west of Kinnear after flood waters recede
(Fremont County, Wyo.) – The Wyoming Department of Transportation has reopened two routes that were closed over the weekend due to water running over the highway.
WYDOT officials reopened WYO 132, 20 miles west of Riverton in Johnstown Valley, at mid-afternoon Monday. Barriers were also being removed on US 26 between Kinnear and Diversion Dam.
“The river is moving a lot in that area,” said Pete Hallsten, district engineer. “There was an intense, long duration rainstorm that started Friday night and lasted around 10 hours in the area of Pinedale, Union Pass and Dubois that may be impacting the river.
WYDOT is also using dynamic message signs and AM radio broadcasts on 1610 to advise motorists of the latest traffic conditions.
“WYDOT appreciates everyone’s patience during this situation,” Hallsten said. “People will still be able to get to their destinations.”
