Volunteers clear out unused barbed wire
The Windy Mountain outside of Dubois has been the home to old barbed wire fencing for decades, it litters the ground and has gone unused. 1,000 Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep winter in this area along with elk, mule deer, and pronghorn antelopes.
This Saturday past, July 15th, ten volunteers headed to the area and removed the old barbed wire fencing from this important wildlife habitat. By removing the wire they ensure that wildlife, especially young animals, don’t get tangled up in the wire which may result in injury or death.
With the old barbed wire gone, we can now be sure the animals in the area will be safe from harm of the wire. Thank’s to the volunteers who worked together on the warm summer morning.
