Early morning snowfall totals highest along Wind River Range; At least 20 inches measured in Sinks Canyon

(Riverton, Wyo) – The National Weather Service in Riverton reported snowfall totals around the region as of 9 p.m. Monday night in the chart below. At 7 a.m., the NWS reported unofficial snowfall totals as deep as 20 inches in Sinks Canyon south of Lander and from 12 to 15 inches in the Lander area. Snow continues to fall in those areas. The greatest snowdepth in Riverton was reported at 10 inches by a weather observer in downtown Riverton and four inches at the airport, where blowing snow made it difficult to gain an accurate snow depth total.

Esther Ruth Noyes

image(Riverton, Wyo) – Esther Ruth Noyes celebrated the New Year by departing this world at 12:01 a.m. and joining in heaven those who have gone before. She was surrounded by her family and passed peacefully at the age of 80 years.

Esther is survived by her husband, Merrill Noyes, daughter Patricia Miles and husband William; son Brian Witt and wife La Vina; and son David Witt and wife Lora. She had 7 grandchildren: Laurence Miles, Tricia Merta, Jeremy Merta, Latosha Robbins, Karen Wells, Judith Proo, and James Witt; 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren. Those preceding her in death include her parents, late husband Virgil Witt, daughters Kathleen and Suzanne, 2 sisters, and one granddaughter, Yvonne.

Esther enjoyed crocheting, painting, and cooking. She was known in the family as the “food pusher”. It gave her such joy to feed any and everyone around her table. Her special “Joy” was Christmas, which she celebrated from November 1st until the songs of the season ended on cable TV sometime in January.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, January 5th at the United Baptist Church on 12th Street and Pershing at 11 a.m.

Private family inurnment will be held later.

obits thumbnailGeraldine A. Pollock of Riverton, died Sunday night, December 16, 2012, at the age of 83 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, where she underwent surgery prior to her passing.
Services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 10 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Thurman will officiate. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Geraldine Alice Fabricius was born May 16,1929 in Eaton, CO to Henry Fabricius and Lydia Weber who moved several times until they permanently located to the Riverton area.
She worked at Temple Drug while attending Riverton High School and graduated in 1947.
She married Eldon B. Pollock on October 5, 1947 in Riverton.
