(Lander,Wyo.) – Russell Elbert Collins, 86, of Lander, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015. A visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 2, at the First Baptist Church, 339 Sweetwater St., in Lander with a funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial is at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
(Ethete,Wyo.) – Naomi Sage, 73, of Ethete, died January 21, 2015. A visitation will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, at the family home, 436 Ethete Road, Ethete WY. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, at the family home. Burial will follow at the Sage/Redman Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hudson’s Funeral Home.
(Lander,Wyo.) – Charles “Chuck” Worden Faulkner, a true Wyoming Cowboy, longtime resident of Lander, died in Billings, Montana on January 15, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital.
(Lander, Wyo.) – Ross Hoyt was born on August 31, 1925 in Orderville Utah. He was the fifth of seven children. Ross’ dad, Josiah, helped build the roadway tunnel at Zion National Park. They moved to Hurricane, Utah to raise the family in the early 1930’s, depression era. With four brothers and two sisters his parents helped feed the family by raising a large garden. Ross and his siblings spent many hours tending to the garden, which was reputed to be one of the best in the area. Ross was introduced to tragedy at a relatively young age. As a teenager he was traveling along a highway, just south of Hurricane, Utah, with four other teenagers when the driver lost control of the vehicle. It tumbled end over end off the highway. Ross was the only survivor and sustained relatively minor injuries.
(Ethete, Wyo.) – Ambrose Wesley Medicine Horse, 48, of Ethete, went to the other side camp August 24, 2014, while at home. An all night visitation at the Tillman Residence, 3 Grove Lane, Fort Washakie will begin at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, August 27, 2014. The Funeral Service will be at the same residence on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Shakespeare Family Cemetery, Ethete, Wyoming.
(Fort Washakie, Wyo.) – Travis James McGill, 33, entered into the Spirit World on Saturday, July 12, 2014, in Tucson, Arizona. Traditional Prayer Services will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rocky Mountain Hall, officiated by Arlen Shoyo, Sr. A wake will be held at #2 Dead Horse Road, Darlene McGill residence. Traditional Services will be held at the Rocky Mountain Hall at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014. Burial will be at the Sacajawea Cemetery with a feast and give away to follow.
(Lander, Wyo.) – Dale Elmer Howard of Lander died in Riverton on July 17, 2014. He was born on May 11, 1920. A grave side service has been planned for 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Mount Hope Cemetery.
(Wind River Reservation, Wyo.) – Delin Dewey was born July 27, 1974, In Pocatello, Idaho. He passed away July 7, 2014 at St. Josephs Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. Visitation will be Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the family home, 626 Ethete Road. Funeral Service will be Friday, July 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Blue Sky Hall. Burial will follow in the Sharp Nose Cemetery, Ethete.
(Lander, Wyo.) – Joe Ben George, 85, of Lander, passed away at his home on June 10, 2014 with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held at Hudson’s Funeral Home, Chapel of Mount Hope in Lander, Wyoming on Monday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Engelhart officiating. Burial will take place at the Hudson Cemetery, and a reception will follow at the Hudson Town Hall.
(Riverton, Wyo.) – Charlotte Jakowski-Hare, of Riverton, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013. She was 97 years old.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Charlotte M. Jakowski was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Fort Mead, S.D., the eldest child of Mary Margaret McDonald Jakowski and Paul Jakowski. Her stepfather was Leo C. Hallock.
She grew up in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School. After she graduated, she moved to Chicago and worked for Schwinn Bicycle Company before joining the U.S. Army. She enlisted in 1940, served during World War II and was honorably discharged May 16, 1946.
After the war, she moved to Lander and worked for 30 years as a presser and dry cleaner for Racy’s Cleaners in Lander. She retired in 1977.
For two years, she was a playground attendant at Northside School in Lander.
She was a member of the American Legion for 66 years, and she attended Bethel Lutheran Church in Lander.
Her family said she loved living in the log cabin near the rise of the Popo Agie in Sinks Canyon before moving to town. They said she was an avid hunter, and in her younger years she participated in the One Shot Antelope Hunt. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Her family said she was a wonderful cook, especially during holiday dinners, and she created lots of memories for her older nephews and nieces.
She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Hallock, of Casper; nephews Dale Hallock and his wife Dorothy, Lee Hallock and Jeff Hallock; niece Susan Short; great-nephews Stoney Hallock and his wife Angie, Trapper Hallock, JD Hallock, Levi Hallock and his wife Cheylynn, Chance Hallock and his wife Jennifer and Colby Payne; great-nieces Heidi Short, Tammie Burch and Tabitha Johnson; great-great-nephews JD Hallock and Caden Hallock; and great-great-nieces Brittney Johnson, Kathleen Hallock and Riley Hallock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul Jakowski-Hallock, Leo C. Hallock Jr. and Jon David Hallock; and sister Margaret Jakowski-Hallock.
(Lander, Wyo.) – Genevieve Lorraine (Trent) Fuller passed away at the age of 100 at the hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., where she was living with her son and daughter-in-law. A visitation will be held at Hudson’s Funeral Home in Lander, Wyoming on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Lander, 262 N. 3rd Street. (Lander, Wyo.) – Kimberly Taylor passed away peacefully at the Wyoming Life Resource Center in Lander on July 26, 2013 after spending 53 years at her home away from home. Kimberly was born December 8, 1956 in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Her parents Ercil and H. Scott Taylor always appreciated the kind, loving and patient care Kim received throughout her life at her home away from home.

(Riverton, Wyo.) – Raymond Anthony Fortuna was born on November 28, 1934 in Rock Springs, WY, and passed away on July 24, 2013 in Riverton, WY. Ray graduated from Reliance High School in 1953 and thereafter attended and was on the college basketball teams at Colorado A&M in Fort Collins, CO; Mesa State in Grand Junction, CO and Pocatello, Idaho. Ray was accepted in the Marine Corps in 1957.

(Lander, Wyo.) – William “Bill” John Humphrey passed away suddenly at his home in Lander, Wyoming, early on July 8th, 2013. He was 59 years old. Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, October 24, 1953, the first child of Ardis and Harold Humphrey. He grew up in the rural Lacawana County, mostly spending his time in the woods, meadows, and fishing at every opportunity. His love and passion for nature and learning started at an early age. After grade school, he attended prep school at Wyoming Seminary in Willksberry, Pa. He then attended Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, where is received his Science Education degree, was a Deans Scholar, and outstanding athlete. He went on to Cornell University, in Ithica, NY, and Kent State in Ohio, and then received his PHD in Plant Taxonomy from Ohio State University. His hunger and thirst for knowledge was never ending, and his passion for teaching was apparent in everything he did.
