BREAKING: Wildland fire reported near Jeffrey City

(Jeffrey City, Wyo.) – A wildfire burning south of Crooks Mountain south of Jeffrey City was reported this afternoon. United from the Bureau of Land Management, the Jeffrey City Fire District and the Fremont County Fire Protection District are responding. Thick black smoke is reported being generated by the fire, which is south of the Continental Divide in a draw off of Happy Springs Road.

Midvale’s NextGen Wireless tower energized; Ribbon cutting held Friday

(Midvale, Wyo.) – The Fremont County Fire Protection District (FCFPD) Battalion 8 Fire Hall at Midvale moved into the electronic age in a big way today when it’s new Wireless NextGen System was turned on. In addition to providing service to the fire district, customers of Wyoming.com in the area will also benefit from faster connection times and more reliable Internet service, said Chris Robisch, the director of sales, marketing and public policy for the Riverton-based Internet service provider.

Battalion #8 Fire Hall at Midvale dedicated Saturday; State Fire Marshall attended

(Midvale, Wyo.) – The dedication and open house at the new nearly 10,000 square foot, almost $1 million Midvale Battalion 8 Fire Hall was held today, with a nice turnout from the community. Fremont County Fire Protection District Chief Craig Haslam acknowledged the community efforts that led to the establishment of the fire hall here over 40 years ago. Current Battalion 8 Chief Rocky McWilliams recognized current and past firefighters and Wyoming State Fire Marshall Lanny Applegate extended his congratulations to the fire district for its continued upgrade of county fire battalions.

Fire season just beginning; Two Fremont County crews headed to Oregon; Hardluck Fire spreading; Smoke invading Wind River Basin

FC fire protection district(Riverton, Wyo.) – Two Fremont County Fire Protection District trucks and six firefighters were dispatched Friday to the Cedar Mountain Fire in Oregon, according to FCFPD Chief Craig Haslam. The fire is burning near Vale, Ore.
