Fort Washakie art students complete semester-long project on last day of school

(Fort Washakie, Wyo.) – On the last day of school, Fort Washkie High School art students completed a semester-long project in the painting of a buffalo. Teacher Leah Maltbie said the buffalo was bought for the school a few years back and the students worked on it this semester, finishing on the last day of the school.

(Fort Washakie, Wyo.) – Funeral services for June Eileen (Large) Juschka, 90, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Andy Gudahl officiating.  Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.   June Juschka joined the angels on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming surrounded by her loving family.

Life-simulation event for teens on risky behaviors set Tuesday at Fairgrounds

(Fremont County, Wyo.) – A “Life RU Ready?” event is planned on Tuesday, May 6 in the Fremont Center at the Fremont County Fairgrounds in Riverton. This program is a joint effort in cooperation with public health, prevention agencies, law enforcement, legal counsel, coroner’s office, health care agencies, and youth volunteers.  “Life RU Ready?”  has been a successful activity in Campbell and Washakie counties; this is a first time event for Fremont County. Sixth grade students from Shoshoni, Wind River, Fort Washakie and Dubois school districts will be participating.

“Big John” Smith received national public service award from NHTSA Monday in Nashville

(Nashville, TN) – The transportation director of the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes traveled to Nashville this week to receive a national safety advocacy award from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHTSA).
