Three county students participated in Poetry Out Loud last week in Cheyenne

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) – Sara Ellingrod of Arvada-Clearmont High School is the winner of the 2013 Wyoming Poetry Out Loud competition that was held March 4-5 in Cheyenne . The runner-up was Hannah Hout of Star Lane Center in Casper.

David D. Washakie sentenced to Federal prison on assault charge; Restitution ordered

DOJ logo(Cheyenne, Wyo.) – A 32-year-old Fort Washakie man was sentenced Friday in U. S. District Court to 3.8 years (46 months) in prison on his conviction of Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Federal District Court Judge Clarence A. Brimmer  also ordered David Dewey Washakie to serve two years of supervised probation following his release, and he was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $8,688.50 and a $100 special assessment.

Eastern Shoshone Tribe names Sara Robinson as new Tribal Liaison with state government

Screen Shot 2013-01-28 at 8.27.48 AM(Fort Washakie, Wyo.) –  The Eastern Shoshone Business Council has appointed Sara Robinson as its new Tribal Liaison. Robinson replaces Edward Wadda who was killed in a car accident in 2012.

(Fort Washakie, Wyo.) – Marchia J. (Tillman) Allen, 70 years of age, passed away at her home January 24, 2013, following a lengthy illness. Roman Catholic Rosary and wake will be held at the Rocky Mountain Hall on January 28, 2013, at 7 p.m. Roman Catholic Burial rites will also be held at the Rocky Mountain Hall January 29, 2013, at 10 a.m. and burial will be held at Sacajawea Cemetery under the direction of the Hudson’s Funeral Home. Community Feast and Round Dance set Saturday at Fort Washakie
