(Riverton, Wyo.) – Film Professor Jeremy Nielsen will be one of six featured speakers at TEDxCentralWyomingCollege with his talk “Cast of 1,000, All of them are Dudes” on October 22 at the Robert A Peck Arts Theatre. Nielsen’s talk is about gender disparity in the film business. His examples stem from the stories we tell and the statistics of those who tell the stories. Nielsen asks, “Would your favorite movie be the same if we made a few changes?”
(Lander, Wyo.) – Back by popular demand, County10.com is hosting a 2014 General Election Debate on the evening of October 23. Candidates in contested races for local legislative districts and county commission districts, as well as mayoral candidates, will face-off starting at 6 p.m. in an event that will be both in front of an audience and live streamed for the whole county to view.

(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Riverton Justice Center construction has moved to the point where the concrete block walls are now going up. Thursday morning activity at the site included ground work around the edge of the site, electricians were on site as well as the masons laying the concrete blocks. (Riverton, Wyo.) – A gas leak has resulted in many law enforcement and fire vehicles responding to Honor Farm Road, which was closed for a time while the source of the leak was located and fixed.

(Riverton, Wyo.) – Replacement of curbs and gutters under the For Our Roads Citizens Committee, or FORCC, recommendations for use of the voter approved optional one cent sales tax in Riverton has now moved onto North 8th West. Curbs and gutters along that street, including in front of the Fremont County Office Center and Jackson School, began this week. Concrete replacement crews are now finishing up work on North 1st Street while prepping the N. 8th West locations.
