(Lander, Wyo.) – SageWest Healthcare in Lander is hosting a Blood Drive on Monday, July 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
(Lander, Wyo.) – The International Climbers’ Festival, which gets started next week, got a bit of an early start last week leading a climbing camp for 21 youth. For four days, children ages 5-15 learned techniques in a gym. On the final day they travelled to the Wild Iris climbing area on South Pass for experience on a real rock wall.
(Riverton, Wyo.) – Jessica Beecham is the new North Riverton Game Warden for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. She replaces Warden Allen Deru, who transferred to Mountain View. Wyoming game wardens are responsible for wildlife law enforcement and education, damage and damage prevention, data collection, and wildlife management duties.
(Lander, Wyo.) Congratulations to a Lander Valley High School graduate who is recently engaged. Levi T. Surrell Jr. of Lander and Arreana Rene Rowe of Soda Springs, Idaho, are engaged. Mr Surrell is a 1980 graduate of LVHS. The bride to be is a graduate of Glenwood Springs High School, in Glenwood Springs, Colo. A wedding date is currently being set.
(Lander, Wyo.) – Republican Secretary of State candidate Pete Illoway of Cheyenne is on the campaign trail and stopped into County10’s office for a brief chat. Illoway will be in the area the next few days and plans on making appearances in the Lander and Dubois July Fourth parades before heading over to Casper.
(Lander, Wyo.) – Sinks Canyon State Park has announced the Fireside Speaker Series schedule for summer 2014. The series will begin on July 11th. The series is held at the camp host site in the Popo Agie campground on Fridays at 6:30 p.m.
(Riverton, Wyo.) – Independence Day means the Fremont County Fair is not that far away and that also means it’s time to get those entries in.
(Riverton, Wyo.) – Some airline passengers who arrive in Riverton with car rental reservations find the rental agency desks empty with no way to get a vehicle, the Riverton Airport Board was told at its last meeting. This problem was said to be especially acute around the Memorial Day holiday.
(Riverton, Wyo.) – Harlee Speyer, 17, of Riverton, is in the early stages of recovery at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colo., after sustaining serious injuries in a single vehicle wreck on Monday.
(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Wyoming Workforce Development Council awarded Central Wyoming College’s Lori Ridgway with the Outstanding Individual Performance Award at a state safety summit last week.
(Pavillion, Wyo.) – Alma J. Dolan, 70, of Pavillion, died on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at her home. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be Thursday, July 3, 2014, 11:30 at the Chief Washakie Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at the Nicol Ranch at 2 p.m. Read the full obituary here.
(Fremont County, Wyo.) – The two Fremont County Safeway Stores, in Riverton and Lander, have gotten into the patriotic theme of Independence Day with special exhibits of “pop” art at each of their stores. Fremont Beverages, the local Pepsi-Cola distributor, built the two large displays using their individual product’s colors to create the images.
