Local arrested after leading deputy on short, muddy chase
A 45-year-old St. Stephen’s man was arrested last night after leading a Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputy on a pursuit down a muddy two track road. Anthony Summerlin has been charged with DUI, Driving Under Suspension, and Eluding.
At about 8 p.m., a deputy were called to Hoot Owl Road northeast of Riverton for a suspicious vehicle parked on a two track road. Upon the deputy’s arrival, the driver of the other SUV took off down the road. The deputy followed for about a half mile on the muddy road at slow speeds, Undersheriff Ryan Lee reports. The deputy eventually stopped because of the road conditions, and soon after the suspect vehicle became stuck.
“Summerlin then exited the vehicle and walked to the Deputy’s location where he was taken into custody,” Lee said.
