CWC celebrates 33 years of graduating nurses in heart-warming ceremony
Thursday night, Central Wyoming College its 33rd annual Nurses Pinning Ceremony with the Class of 2017. The evening was full of celebration, and by the end of the ceremony the love seen between instructors and students was so overwhelmingly evident, there was hardly a dry eye in the auditorium.
This year’s class chose instructor Debbie McClure to be the faculty speaker. She has 40 years of nursing experience, including 10 in instruction, and she is retiring. She imparted the graduates with advice, the main portion of which was to always remain compassionate and to remember what they felt that evening as they continue to grow and help others. Several of the students surprised McClure with a parting gift, and CWC President Dr. Brad Tyndall became emotional as he thanked McClure for all she’s done.
Brian Jensen was this year’s class speaker, and he thank the faculty and his fellow graduates for everything they’d done for him over the last two years. He compared nursing school to cult (they all dress the same, are extremely devoted, stick together) but in a good way, and thanked everyone for changing his life for the better.
Emily Scheer was given an award for Academic Excellence, and Briana Franks was recognized for Professional Excellence.
