(Lander, Wyo.) – Lander’s own Jessie Allen left for the Miss America pageant this week!
Jessie was born and raised in Lander, Wyoming. She spends the summers on her family’s guest ranch, guiding horse pack trips in the Wind River Mountains. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Marketing. While at UW, she was on the dance team. She was the 2008-2009 Wyoming State FFA Secretary and worked in the U.S. House of Representatives for Wyoming Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis. She graduated a 30-day New Zealand wilderness backpacking course through National Outdoor Leadership School and obtained her 200hr yoga teacher certification in Thailand.
“Wyoming is the best state in the nation. It is a true honor to call myself Miss Wyoming 2014, and I will continuously strive to embody the values and traditions of our state. I will combine my deep Wyoming roots, the experiences from my worldly adventures and my zest-for-life attitude to serve as a proactive leader throughout Wyoming,” said Allen.
