Tree spraying to be completed in Shoshone National Forest campgrounds

(Cody, Wyo.) – Several Shoshone National Forest campgrounds will be closed for a day or two starting Wednesday, September 10. This closure will allow workers to apply the insecticide Carbaryl to protect trees from bark beetle attack and to help retain green trees in the campgrounds. Each campground will be closed during periods of spraying to ensure public safety.

Spraying Operations are tentatively scheduled to commence on Wednesday, September 10th on the Clarks Fork, Greybull and Wapiti Ranger Districts. Sites to be sprayed in the Clarks Fork Ranger District include: Crazy Creek, Hunter Peak, Lake Creek, Lilly Lake, Beartooth Lake, Island Lake, and Fox Creek campgrounds as well as the Reef Creek picnic area. Sites to be sprayed on the Wapiti Ranger District are Eagle Creek and Three Mile campgrounds as well as the Sleeping Giant picnic area. On the Greybull Ranger District, Brown Mountain and Wood River campgrounds will be sprayed.

Spraying operations are tentatively scheduled to begin Saturday, September 13th on the Washakie and Wind River Ranger Districts.
