(Riverton, Wyo.) – A new record low temperature for Riverton was recorded over the weekend when the thermometer dipped to 45 degrees early Sunday. The old record was 47 set in 2008. The National Weather Service noted in announcing the new record low that official weather records in Riverton only date back to 1995, when the weather office was relocated there from Lander.

However, the cooperative observer site in Riverton reported a low of 35 degrees for that date set in 1962.

On Monday, Riverton’s low reached 46 degrees while in Lander it bottomed out at 47. Neither was a record.

Tonight’s low in Riverton is expected around 50 degrees. The lows for the remainder of the week are forecast in the range of 51 to 52 degrees through Friday.
