This Weekend: Rocking the Winds, Community Center golf tourney, Van Dijk memorial and much more

Thursday, Aug. 21

Cycle Greater Yellowstone Concert in the Park – The Chanman Roots Band from Jackson are playing a free show at Lander City Park starting at 6 p.m. as part of the festivities surrounded Cycle Greater Yellowstone spending a couple days in Lander.

Wyoming Catholic College Liberty Lecture – Wyoming Catholic College’s third and final Liberty Lecture this year will be “Constitutional Morality versus Class Warfare: The Right Rhetoric for a Republic,” featuring Dr. Virginia Arbery, an Associate Professor of Humanities at WCC. The lecture starts at 7 p.m. at the Fremont County Library – Lander Carnegie Room. It is free and open to the public.

Mary Beth Baptiste reading and book signing – Baptiste is the author of “Altitude Adjustment A Quest for Love, Home, and Meaning in the Tetons” and her reading will begin at the Fremont County Library – Lander at 7 p.m.

Buffalo Bill Boycott and Dr. Joe present ‘The Legacy of Wyoming’ – The multi-media and music presentation starts at 7 p.m. at the Museum of the American West. The concert-length event is free to attend.

 

Friday, Aug. 22

Rocking the Winds at Grizzly Rock Ranch – Admission by donation. Live music nightly, food, drinks, poker run, raffles, shooting events, etc. Free camping on site, so spend the weekend at the ranch! Proceeds go to the Green Beret Foundation to help wounded Army Special Forces members and Gold Star families. Wyoming State Trappers Association Convention and Outdoor Expo – The expo is Friday and Saturday at the Fremont Center at the Fremont County Fairgrounds in Riverton. There are a number of vendors and demos happening throughout the day.

 

Saturday, Aug. 23

Rocking the Winds at Grizzly Rock Ranch – Admission by donation. Live music nightly, food, drinks, poker run, raffles, shooting events, etc. Free camping on site, so spend the weekend at the ranch! Proceeds go to the Green Beret Foundation to help wounded Army Special Forces members and Gold Star families. Lander Crazy Days – Throughout the day Lander businesses will be holding special sales.

Wyoming State Trappers Association Convention and Outdoor Expo – The expo is Friday and Saturday at the Fremont Center at the Fremont County Fairgrounds in Riverton. There are a number of vendors and demos happening throughout the day.

Hole-in-One Challenge – The Lander Community and Convention Center Fundraise is $50 per person event will begin at 9 a.m. and be a 18 hole, four-person scramble. To sign up, call Doug at the Lander Golf Club at 332-GOLF (4653). There will also be awards for closest to the pin and longest drive. Get all the details here.

MDA ‘Fill the Boot’ Drive – Riverton Volunteer Fire Department will be collecting donations for the annual MDA “Fill the Boot” drive at Walmart From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

CSSHA Working Cow Horse Competition – 9am start: Cowboy State Stock Horse Association Summer Series – Working Cow Horse Competition. Dubois Community Health Fair – The health fair, with presentations from various organizations, will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Dubois High School Auditorium.

Memorial creation for Van Dijk family – From 1-3 p.m., kids and parents are invited to come write and paint on a large billboard at Lander City Park in memory of Zephan and Noah Van Dijk who were lost in a house fire in July. There will be cookies and punch as well.
