Riverton council to decide trash pick-up schedule tonight; Recommendation is 4-days a week

(Riverton, Wyo.) – There will be a lot of trash talking tonight at the Riverton City Council’s regular meeting as the topic of changing the city’s garbage pickup will be decided. A city staff report recommends going to all 45-gallon roll-out containers system for residential customers, replacing alley dumpsters. The recommendation was made by a task force studying the issue. See that report here.

Just as he did last week before the Lander City Council, Fremont County Emergency Medical Services Director Joe Zelmer will give the Riverton Counselors an update on changes being made by the ambulance service as a result of budget restrictions.

Police Chief Mike Broadhead is also scheduled to present a report on the city’s public intoxication situation and a bid for an overlay on Pure Gas Road proposed by the For Our Roads Citizens Committee using optional one cent tax funds will be heard.

The meeting begins at 6:45 p.m. with a pre-meeting. The regular session convenes at 7 p.m.

If they go to all roll outs… it will officially be the dumbest thing this city has ever done! Can you say TRASH SPILLED EVERYWHERE!!!!!

  2. Brett Hutchison

I dont know like the roll outs when I was living in Laramie and did not see a lot of trash around town then. But if they do it how about also doing a pay by weight thing at most when i was living in Riverton and being only me and my wife most times it would have taken 3 or 4 weeks to fell up one, but was paying the same as a big family that where doing one a week.

When will the city do something about the trash that is all over town? There are mattresses and trash blocking the alleys and rental properties throw trash everywhere but in the trash. It will be a huge mess if people that can't dispose trash properly have a smaller container to put it in and certain days to set it out..
