Case takes Republican nomination for Lander Senate seat; Maldonado wins on the Democratic side
(Lander, Wyo.) – Wyoming State Senator for District 25 Incumbent Cale Case will be moving on to the general election, generating more votes than any one of his three Republican contenders.
Case received 45.51 percent of the votes, totaling 1,387. Jennifer McCarty was the next closest with 949 votes, 31.14 of the total. Joe Malek had 576 votes, 18.9 percent. And finally, Allen Whiteman had 4.4 percent of the vote, a total of 134 ballots cast for him.
“I’m happy about today and looking forward to the next,” Case told County10.
McCarty said she was very appreciative of all the support she received. “I gave it my best shot,” she said. Challenger Joe Malek, who finished second to Case four years ago, was third this year.
Case congratulated his opponents on a good race.
On the Democrat side, Sergio Maldonado Sr. took his party’s nomination. He received 562 votes. His opponent Travis Brockie got 332 votes.
Case said he looks forward to the race against Maldonado, saying that the focus will be more issue oriented than it was against his primary opponents.
