Man uninjured after his car plummeted almost 90 feet off the Loop Road

(Lander, Wyo.) – A 22-year-old Lander man escaped serious injury early Sunday morning, when the vehicle he was operating ran off the Loop Road near Fossil Mountain, which is located at the back of Sinks Canyon. An investigation revealed the driver missed a corner due to his speed which caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and plummet 88 feet before striking and dislodging a large boulder.

The 1997 Acura then flipped in the air another 23 feet before coming to rest on its top. The driver refused transport via ambulance for further evaluation; he was later issued a citation for Speeds too Fast for Roadway Conditions. Alcohol was not a factor.

(Photos of the wreck were not immediately available.)
