(Lander, Wyo.) – On Monday morning the Fremont County Commission set the mill levies for public entities across the county. A mill levy is the rate at which property taxes are collected from citizens.
The county, municipalities, school districts, conservation districts, fire districts and other entities set budgets each year and in doing so request to collect a certain mill levy from its constituents. The county commissions then reviews the levy requests and ultimately is charged with approving them.
Based on information provided by the Fremont County Assessor’s Office, residents living in the town of Dubois have the highest highest mill levy in the county, with a total of 79.663 mills. The Shoshoni Cemetery/County Fire District has the lowest at 71.390 mills.
Below are tables showing total mills per district, along with a breakdown of the countywide mill levies and assessed values. The tables were provided by Fremont County Assessor Tara Berg.
