Riverton Police catch alleged pot dealer after he threatens teenage boy twice on Saturday

(Riverton, Wyo.) – A 44-year-old Riverton man found himself at the wrong end of the long arm of the law twice on Saturday, and ended up being charged with drug possession with intent to deliver.

In his initial brush with the police, Kerry Griffith was implicated in chasing an 18-year-old male around town and threatening him with bodily harm. Griffith was apparently concerned that the youth had been spending too much time with his girlfriend, a 43-year-old woman. The boy was allegedly threatened with being shot and stabbed. The boy said there was “nothing going on” between him and the woman, that they were “just friends.” Police contacted Griffith who did admit chasing the youth down. A police report said he wanted to finish it, “man-to-man.” Police told the victim and the suspect to avoid each other.

As is usually the case, however, the older man wouldn’t let it go and threatened the kid again, resulting in police paying a visit to Griffith’s home in the 300 block of Elk Drive. As police investigated the latest threat, they discovered an amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia in the home. Police found a blue and green glass pipe in the bedroom along with a white baggie that had several “bouncy balls” in it. There was a seam on the toys where there should not have been one. When police separated the balls, they found a black, brown and green substance inside with a very strong odor of marijuana. Also found in the bedroom was a UPS box that contained 29 new, and empty, bouncy balls. Police also found scales, two portable vaporizers and multiple jars containing the substance. One jar contained 28.9 grams, another 44.5 grams, another 21.1 grams, another with 29 grams and one with 1.5 grams, along with various other pipes and paraphernalia.

Police also confiscated and towed Griffith’s truck and will obtain a search warrant to see if there is any evidence inside.

Griffith was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
