(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Grand Champion Market Beef at the 2014 Fremont County Fair and Rodeo was shown by Mark McConnell of Lander. At the Junior Livestock Sale Saturday morning, McConnell’s 1,253 pound steer named Reggie sold for $9.75 a pound. Purchaser was Wind River Ranch Supply.
The 2014 County Fair Champion Livestock were sold at the beginning of the sale, and Wind River Ranch Supply also purchased the Reserve Champion Market Beef, shown by Daxton Fischer for $3.75 per pound. His steer, named Big Butt Joe, weighed in at 1,305 pounds.
Other champions sold Saturday morning included:
Grand Champion Market Hog, shown by Karlee Von Krosigk, $10 per pound to Atlantic City Federal Credit Union. Her hog weighed 271 pounds.
Reserve Champion Market Hog, shown by Chase Taylor, sold for $8.00 per pound. Her hog tipped the scales at 289 pounds.
Grand Champion Market Lamb, shown bi Tiana Lopez went for $13.50 per pound to Wind River Ranch Supply. Her lamb weighed 149 pounds.
Reserve Champion Market Lamb was shown by Ransom Slack, but the lamb was not consigned to the sale. It weighed 135 pounds.
Grand Champion Market Goat was shown by Madyson Dolcater, but her goat was not consigned to the sale. Her goat weighed 69 pounds.
Reserve Champion Market Goat shown by Brittnee Berg sold for $16 per pound to Stallion Oil Field Services. Berg’s goat weighed 73 pounds.
Champion Roaster – Pen of Chickens was shown by KaylaRae Lawrence. The three chickens fetched $525, purchased by the Steffen Family.
Champion Fryer – Pen of Chickens was shown by Samantha Williams. Her three fryers went for $500 to Mountain Valley RV.
Grand Champion Pen of Rabbits was shown by Jessika Lawrence. Wyoming Ag Marketing bought the pen for $500.
Reserve Champion Pen of Rabbits raised by Dillon Hedges sold for $650 to Robert Cruickshank.
