This Weekend: Gift of the Waters, end of the Fair, a duck derby and much more

Friday, Aug. 1

Northern Red Desert Driving Day Tour – Tour with John Mionczynski and the Wyoming Outdoor Council. For reservations and additional details, call 332-7031.

Fremont County Fair exhibit buildings – Open 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. (See a complete fair schedule here.)

100 Day Community Challenge – The event to highly the positives of the Wind River Indian Reservation gets started. Read more here .

Meet and Greet with Jillian Balow – The event with the Republican Candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction is hosted by Jen Neeley & Committee to Elect Jillian Balow from 3 – 5 p.m. at Coalter Loft.

Quick Draw – The Riverton Artist Guild Quick Draw is at 5 p.m. at the Fremont Center, as part of the 2014 Fremont County Fair. (See a complete fair schedule here.)

Sinks Canyon Fireside Speaker series - This week’s topic is the history of Sinks Canyon with Sarah Trembly. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Popo Agie campground.

Fremont County Fair Rocky Mountain Truck and Tractor Pull – The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Ticket required. (See a complete fair schedule here.)

 

Saturday, Aug. 2

Wyoming All State Band Fundraising Yard Sale – The sale is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sears parking lot in Riverton. Donations may be dropped at 7:30 a.m.

Wind River Judo Camp – The camp, walk-ins welcome, starts at 9 a.m. at the Starrett gym in Lander, with afternoon sessions starting at 1 p.m. During the day-long Judo training participants will be able to observe Judo practitioners working hard to improve their techniques and will gain an understanding of why Judo is a such versatile martial art.

Rotary 5k Run, Waddle & Duck Derby – The annual run starts at 9 a.m. followed by the Duck Derby at 11 a.m. at the Rotary Fire Pit at the Riverton Riverwalk.

Fremont County Fair exhibit buildings – Open 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. (See a complete fair schedule here.)

The Atlantic City Gold Bust Festival – The event, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., hosts a number events throughout the small mountain town, with music, presentations and vendors. Learn more here.

Gift of the Waters Indian Pageant – The event, featuring local members of the Shoshone Nation, starts at 6 p.m. at Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis.

Fremont County Fair Demolition Derby – The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Ticket required. (See a complete fair schedule here.)

 

Sunday, Aug. 3

Archaeology with Altitude Gala – The event starts at 5 p.m. with hor d’oeuvre reception, a cash bar, and silent auction begin in the Headwaters Arts and Conference Center’s back yard, weather permitting.

Gift of the Waters Indian Pageant – The event, featuring local members of the Shoshone Nation, starts at 6 p.m. at Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis.
