Tonight is Cancer Awareness Night at the Wind River PRCA Rodeo; Wear pink, fight cancer

(Riverton, Wyo.) – Gary Weisz of Shoshoni was the lucky winner of two tickets for the Wind River PRCA Rodeo Round-Up Military Appreciation Night Monday in Riverton. He is pictured here with County10.com’s Ashlee Kintzler at our booth on the Midway

Tonight, Cancer Awareness Night, The Sundowner in Riverton will be donating $1.00 for anyone who wears pink to the rodeo.
As people are coming through the gates, they will be given a ticket for $20.00 gas card drawings, compliments of Bailey Enterprises. At the end of the night, a total count will be taken of people wearing pink, which will be presented to the Sundowner to determine their donation to the Tough Enough to Help Cancer Fund.
Tough Enough to Help Cancer Fund would like to thank the Sundowner and the late Judy Cone Baty’s family, for all the support they have given throughout the years!

The family of Ellen Givens will be honored tonight as well as cancer survivor Scott Maller. In addition Tough Enough To Wear Pink merchandise will be sold near the grandstands.  A donation will be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation of Wyoming from the proceeds of this
merchandise.

In addition, a live auction will be held to auction off a pair of hand tooled, pink fringed chaps and chinks, which were designed by Leather Design/BJ Griffin in Riverton. This has been an annual event for the last 7 years and approximately $175,000 has been raised for the Fremont County Tough Enough to Help Cancer Fund, just through this venue alone. John Campbell, Chairman of the rodeo committee, has set a goal to reach $200,000 with this next auction. Monies are used to assist Fremont County residents who are battling cancer with cost of living expenses and or travel expenses. Tough Enough to Help Cancer Fund is a non-profit 501c3, managed by Help for Health in Riverton.

The chinks that will be auctioned off were purchased last year by Olson’s Auto Body of Riverton. They were donated  back to be sold again this year. Consequently, the chinks were  autographed by many of the cowboy and cowgirls that came to the rodeo last year; including 5 time National Finals Rodeo Qualifier and 2011 World Champion Team Roper Jhett Johnson. As well as 2012 National Finals Rodeo Qualifier and 2012 WPRA ( Women’s Professional Rodeo Association) World Champion Barrel Racer Mary Walker.

Saw some really rude employees of County 10 tonight bullying people at the ticket gate (was behind them). Hey ,instead of giving away all your tickets, keep a few for yourself instead of treating fair employees like dirt when they are not supposed to let you in for "free" or buy tickets like the rest of us have to do. And to think the employees are supposed to know who you are…are you crazy (and so what who you think you are, you're bullies, that's who you are). Same spiral, shame spiral.!
