(Thermopolis, Wyo.) – Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources Director Milward Simpson is returning to Thermopolis August 4 and 5.

The August trip coincides with a meeting of the Legislative Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Interim Committee that will take place both days.  The meetings are scheduled for 9 a.m., August 4 and 8 a.m. August 5 at the Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center. The agenda for Monday, August 4 includes “Public Comment on Hot Springs State Park” from 11:15 a.m. – Noon, and again from 1:30 p.m. until the Committee recesses at 5 p.m.

Simpson has been scheduling monthly visits to Thermopolis since the State Parks and Trails Division announced one of the park’s concessionaires had failed to meet requirements for a master plan, and it’s lease was not being renewed.

Simpson encourages the public to attend the Monday meeting to provide input for the legislative committee on Hot Springs State Park. The full meeting agenda is available by clicking on “Interim Committee Activities” on the Legislative Service Office website, http://legisweb.state.wy.us/

As with the previous once monthly visits, any groups or members of the public who wish to meet with Director Simpson during his visit on August 4 or 5 or during visits in subsequent months are asked to contact his office at 307-777-7496.
