Sunday’s balloon launch cancelled due to stronger than desired ground breeze

(Riverton, Wyo.) – It was another beautiful morning in the Wind River Country, but the morning clearance breezes were too much for the 24 aeronauts in this years 34th Annual Riverton Rendezvous Hot Air Balloon Rally. Balloonmeister Pat Newlin cancelled the morning flight just after 7 a.m. when the breeze failed to die down. Even with that, one pilot did take off, at his own risk, and that was Colin Graham, the pilot of the special shape balloon, Bud E. Beaver. After inflating and standing up the big balloon, Graham decided to take it up. Two other balloons stood up for a time so the Sunday Morning crowd could take photos. Those were the host balloon Cloud Kisser III and Humpty Dumpty, another special shape  balloon.
