(Basin, Wyo.) – The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is currently investigating a fatal shooting by a police officer in Basin, Q2 News in Montana reports.

Basin Police Chief Chris Kampbell reportedly told Q2 that an officer was checking a traffic complaint when he arrived at a residence at about 2 p.m. on Sunday. A 55-year-old man reportedly pointed a weapon at the officer, and the officer fatally shot the man. Neither of the men’s identities have been released.

The police officer has reportedly been placed on paid administrative leave.
