Friday, July 11

21st Annual International Climbers’ Festival – The festival is an annual celebration of the sport of climbing.  This year it will feature slideshows, climbing clinics, a dyno climbing competition, trade fair, trail run, film festival, yoga, music, art walk about town, parties, contests and tons of world-class rock climbing. $45 Adults, $25 children, Fremont St. & 3rd. WY Model Planes Fly-In – Featuring radio controlled model flying machines from all over the region including planes, helicopters, and even jets. Fly-In offers day and night flying at WY Modelers Park located between the Walmart and Honor Farm Rd.

Music on the Riverwalk – Rails to Trails 6th Annual Music on the Riverwalk is from 6-9 p.m. between Main and 1st Streets. The Riverton Museum will be hosting games and entertainment for children that reflect what children in the early 1900’s played. Enjoy hopscotch, jacks/knucklebones, marbles, button spinners, stereoscopes. Children will also be able to take home a wooden button spinner, piece of chalk and a bouncy ball for jacks.

Sinks Canyon Fireside Speaker Series – Learn about black and grizzly bears with Brian DeBolt, of Wyoming Game and Fish, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. All programs are held in the Popo Agie Campground at the camp host site at 6:30 p.m. Families are welcome at these events. After the series there will be a small campfire, so kids and adults alike are encouraged to bring marshmallows to roast. Bench seating is available, but attendees may bring camp chairs if desired.

 

Saturday, July 12

Boysen State Park Youth Fishing Derby – This event is part State Parks’ Wyoming Kids eXtreme program designed to connect children with the outdoors. Open to kids 13 years of age and younger, participants can obtain a registration form from Boysen State Park, 307-876-2796, the Shoshoni Recreation District, 307-876-2663, Boysen Lake Marina, 307-876-2772 or Lip Rippers, 307-876-2345. Pre-registration is required. The Day Use Fee is waived for all entrants. Entrants can get a free fishing pole at Lip Rippers or Boysen Lake Marina the morning of July 12. The event begins at the reservoir at 8 a.m. Prizes will be awarded at the Boysen Lake Marina at 5 p.m. Free food and drinks will also be provided.

Rendezvous Day in the Park – From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. enjoy a craft fair, food, dancing and more at Riverton City Park. Admission is free.

South Pass City Gold Rush Days – From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Enjoy a taste of life at the turn of the century at South Pass City State Historic Site. Gold Rush Days features a vintage baseball tournament, music in the historic saloons, kids games and one of a kind events like anvil blasting, mining demonstrations and panning for real gold.

Riverton Museum Day – 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Come step back in time – the museum is open, and it’s free admission. The museum is located at 700 East Park in Riverton. The Riverton Museum Association will be handing out bottles of water and brochures compliments of the Riverton Museum Association.

Lander Children’s Museum Circus – There will be Magic Shows at 11:00 and 1:00, Clown Costume Contest at Noon, inside activities will be face painting, popcorn, Feed the Elephant, pinwheels, puppets and more under the Big Top. Outside we will have the bouncy house. Event is from 10:00 to 2:00 and general admission of $3 applies.

North Portal Fire Hall Dedication – Fremont County Fire Protection District’s Battalion 11 at North Portal will dedicate its new building at 11 a.m. with a lunch to follow. There will be door prizes and games for the kids. The new fire hall is located at #4 Sand Mesa Road, just east of its intersection with North Portal Road.

Missouri Valley Fire 50-year Anniversary Celebration – The Missouri Valley Fire Battalion will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with an open house, barbecue and ice cream from 1-4 p.m. The fire hall is located on Highway 134 between Davison and Clothesline Roads.
