(Riverton, Wyo.) – With something for the young, the young-at-heart, and everyone in between, the first-ever Parade Day 5K, Cycle or Swim is the perfect venue for every member of the community and their families to see how they can experience how to incorporate great food and fun exercise into a healthy lifestyle.

Local businesses, volunteers, sponsors, and the incurably curious are invited to get involved!

The Go Fremont County Parade Day 5K, Cycle or Swim event has two goals:

  1. To promote active and healthy lifestyles in our community
  2. To raise money to support two great causes – The Steve James Family fund for a heart transplant and the reconstruction of the Darcie Zimmer Memorial Trail.

Help achieve those goals together with other community sponsors (see below) by showcasing your health or fitness-oriented product or service at the post-race festivities. This might include educational information and resources, nutritious, delicious food or beverages, or an exercise, sport and fitness trend you want to encourage.   So far, we have local experts planning to host Zumba and PiYo demonstrations for the community to give a try. Participants and observers can win a variety of prizes and drawings.

The event begins with race-day registration and pre-registration packet pick-up at 6:00 a.m. in the Fremont Therapy Group parking lot, and includes a 5k run/walk, 25-mile bike ride and a 606-yard swim.  All three events run simultaneously with a shotgun start at 7am.  Participants can choose their favorite event or form a team to compete in all three events for best overall times.

Following the race activities, Sage West Healthcare (formerly Riverton Memorial Hospital) is hosting brunch for the participants on the grassy area between Fremont Therapy and the hospital. There will be awards, music, and activities that showcase great food, a variety of fitness alternatives and healthy lifestyle choices that are available in our own community. Whether you’re entering a race or just coming to join the fun, you can enter drawings to win prizes or try something new.

Activities will conclude with participants reconvening late afternoon for the Ride of Fame on the Parade Day 5K, Cycle or Swim float in the Fremont County Fair Parade that starts at 6 pm.

This will be an event to be enjoyed by all — from seasoned athletes or first-time racers, to the casual observer. Please join us!
