Mystery of the Day: Where did that tank come from in the Dubois parade?

(Dubois, Wyo.) – Every year there’s that one parade entry that gets people wondering. Such an entry, two in fact, appeared in this year’s Dubois 4th of July parade. While military vehicles are not uncommon in parades, there haven’t been any seen locally in recent memory. So there must be a back story behind the U.S. Army tank and armored personnel carrier that drove through downtown Dubois on Friday during that community’s Independence Day Parade saluting military veterans. Here’s your challenge, 10’ers. Who knows the story behind these two entries and how did they end up in Dubois?

Thanks to County Coroner Ed McAuslan for the photo.

I think they missed a good deal with the banner. "Tank You Veterans" would have been witty and heartfelt.
