(Riverton, Wyo.) – A pilot and his family declared an aircraft emergency Thursday morning after the Beechcraft Bonanza the man was piloting suffered engine failure. The Salt Lake City Flight Control contacted the Riverton Regional Airport Fire Station to put them on stand-by as the aircraft was approaching Riverton.
According to a police report of the incident, the 59-year-old pilot from Colusa, Calif. reported he was switching fuel tanks while in flight and the engine quit running. At some point, he was able to restart the engine and the aircraft landed safely. The pilot taxied to Jim’s Aircraft Service where the problem was worked on and, apparently, fixed.
