(Lander, Wyo.) – The International Climbers’ Festival, which gets started next week, got a bit of an early start last week leading a climbing camp for 21 youth. For four days, children ages 5-15 learned techniques in a gym. On the final day they travelled to the Wild Iris climbing area on South Pass for experience on a real rock wall.
“It was so fantastic to see local kids learning the basics of rock climbing,” Instructor and organizer Mandy Pohja said. “Just having their parents in the climbing gym and out at the climbing area is a huge win for the future of climbing use.”
