(Lander, Wyo.) — On Sunday, July 6th, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Lander residents will have the opportunity to show their support for traditional marriage and religious liberty. The gathering will be held at Lions’ Pavilion at City Park, and reflects the efforts of several local residents to promote a traditional understanding of marriage, the family, and liberty.
Organized by Lander residents Kevin and Michelle Roberts, the picnic will feature family-friendly music, games for the kids, and some good discussions about how we can be active in promoting traditional marriage in Wyoming. There will also be a brief interdenominational prayer service.
“We will not be bullied into being silent on this issue,” Kevin Roberts said. “As Christians, we respect all people, so to suggest otherwise is a ‘straw man’ argument. Rather, the root of this issue is returning to a proper understanding of the human person, of the family, and of liberty. Government simply cannot ‘redefine’ nature, and proponents of same-sex marriage ought not bully others into thinking that they’re ‘bigots’ for supporting what nature provides.” Roberts stresses that the gathering will be a “simple, peaceful, and friendly” picnic for people who promote traditional marriage and values.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share, as well as to wear something red, white, or blue. For further information, attendees can visit the event page on Facebook.
The event comes a couple weeks after a LGBTQ Pride Picnic was held at the same location.
