Money being raised for family of Riverton teen seriously injured in Monday wreck

(Riverton, Wyo.) – Harlee Speyer, 17, of Riverton, is in the early stages of recovery at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colo., after sustaining serious injuries in a single vehicle wreck on Monday.

Family friend Teresa David said Harlee underwent a more than six-hour spinal surgery on Tuesday. Doctors are reportedly unsure of how much movement she’ll regain. David said Harlee’s mother, Lesa Speyer, reported that her daughter was beginning to feel some tingling in her arms. Doctors are concerned that she might not be able to walk again. The surgery reportedly went better than expected.

A donation website was set up for the Speyer family to help them pay for expenses. David said the page was set up Tuesday, and as of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday nearly $1,700 was raised.
