Attic fire at Lander home displaces family; Cause of the fire is under investigation

(Lander, Wyo.) – Lander Volunteer Firefighters are wrapping up a nearly three-hour fire fight on the 300 block of Cascade Street. Fire Administrator Nick Hudson said a slow, but destructive attic fire was reported at a rental home on the block at about 5:30 p.m.

Hudson said the family was home when the fire started, but no one was injured. Damage was caused throughout the home, and the family has been displaced. The local Red Cross is reportedly helping.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, Hudson said, but the fire appears to have started in the ceiling above the bathroom. He said ceilings in most of the home had to be pulled out in order to stop the fire.

Firefighters were beginning to clean up their equipment at about 8:30 p.m.
