Flood Watch issued for Owl Creek and Bridger mountains

(Thermopolis, Wyo.) – A Flood Watch has been issued for the Owl Creek and Bridger Mountains through Friday afternoon by the National Weather Service Office in Riverton.

Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall along with some embedded thunderstorms will result in the potential for flooding in Central and North Central Wyoming today as a very moist Pacific low pressure center tracks slowly east across the North half of Wyoming,” states the watch.

The Flood Watch continues for:

  • A portion of central Wyoming, including the following area. Owl Creek and Bridger Mountains.
  • Through this afternoon.
  • Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall along with some embedded thunderstorms could produce substantial rainfall amounts today. Up to one to two inches of rainfall are possible in some areas by this evening. This, in combination with recent Locally heavy rainfall, will lead to the potential for flooding of area creeks and streams.
  • Precautionary/preparedness actions.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
