RPD reminds Riverton residents: NO fireworks in Riverton on July 4th.

(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Riverton Police Department Tuesday issued a reminder to all city residents that fireworks are NOT allowed in town on the 4th of July holiday. “That’s Lander, not Riverton,” RPD Captain Eric Murphy said this morning. “Fireworks are prohibited in the city of Riverton. Period. No exceptions,” he said.

“If you want to shoot off fireworks on the 4th, you can go to Lander where it is legal on that day.”

Murphy said the RPD gets many dozens of calls asking about the issue each holiday. “For some reason, people are confused about this, but I wanted to put out the word early that no fireworks are allowed in the city of Riverton, on July 4th or otherwise.”

Violators are subject to a misdemeanor fine.

what kind of crap is this? my son's first real 4th and we can't have fireworks? This is a national freaking holiday. RPD is worthless anyways and just wants one more thing to whine about because they have to get off their butts and do something.
