Hill Street 2-day closure begins next Thursday on Riverview project in Riverton
(Riverton, Wyo.) – A 2-day closure of Hill Street is scheduled to begin Thursday morning, June 12th, on the $2.8 million Riverview Road highway improvement project in Riverton.
The closure of Hill Street is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. June 12, and last through noon, Saturday, June 14. During the closure, all Riverview traffic will be required to access Main Street and Riverview Road via Major Avenue and Adams Avenue in Riverton.
Crews with prime contractor Jerry Bornhoft Construction Co., are preparing to begin installing storm sewer on Hill Street on that date.
“This closure is necessary to allow the contractor to complete installation of storm sewer on the Hill Street portion of the Riverview project,” said Robert Scheidemantel, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Riverton. “We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this upcoming closure, but the closure will help the contractor to get the work done in the shortest time with citizens’ and workers’ safety in mind.”
Working hours of the prime contractor continue to be 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Traffic is being allowed to pass through the project from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. without being stopped by flaggers. During the remainder of the work day, travelers may encounter delays of up to 15 minutes.
“Citizens are invited to attend a 1 p.m. work progress meeting every Thursday at the City of Riverton’s Public Works Building on Monroe Avenue,” said Scheidemantel.
Jerry Bornhoft Construction, Inc.’s scope of work on the Riverview project includes grading, draining, milling existing asphalt, placing crushed gravel base, asphalt paving, chip sealing, removal of the existing Riverton Valley Irrigation District canal bridge, curb and gutter, water main replacement, sanitary sewer and electrical improvements, fencing and other work on .94 miles of Riverview Road beginning at milepost 2.16 in the City of Riverton between Rein Road and Augusta Drive.
