(Cheyenne, Wyo.) – U.S. Attorney Christopher A. Crofts announced today that Fort Washakie resident Kevin Paul Brown, 24, has been convicted in federal court. Brown was charged by indictment with a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 111, assault on a federal officer.

On June 3, 2014, a jury found Brown guilty on the sole count of the indictment after a two-day jury trial in the U.S. District Court in Casper. Brown is scheduled to be sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl on August 15, 2014.

The charge against Brown stemmed from an incident that occurred on November 16, 2013, on the Wind River Indian Reservation. He is facing up to 20 years in prison. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Agency in Lander.
